Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy B. Scott, 73, of Ashland, will be Friday, July 30, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland with The Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery. Mrs. Scott passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. She was born in Etowah County, but was a former resident of Talladega and Calhoun County and has lived in Ashland since 1973. Nancy attended Ohatchee High School and was known throughout her life as a hard worker, having taken her first job at the age of 16. In 1973, she became the owner and operator of the Dairy Queen restaurants in Talladega and Ashland. Mrs. Scott is survived by her husband, Paul Scott, of Ashland; two sons, Paul Edward Scott (Darlene), of Ashland and Jay Scott (LeeAnn), of Ringgold, Ga.; two sisters, Sarah Burdette, of Monroe, Ga. and Debra Hudson, of Jersey, Ga.; four brothers, Frank Grubbs Jr., of Anniston, Jimmy Grubbs, of Rockmart, Ga., Roger Grubbs, of Cedar Bluff and Ricky Grubbs, of Monroe, Ga. and five grandsons. Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Grubbs and Frances White Grubbs; one son, Robbie Scott; one sister, Eloise Carter; three brothers: Robert "Bob" Grubbs, Doug Grubbs and Jerry Grubbs. Pallbearers will be Brian Grubbs, Brandon Grubbs, Clint Grubbs, Kenny Johnson, Greg Hall, Doug Grubbs, Dave Maddox and Chris Gibbs. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland this evening, July 29, 2010, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and until service time on Friday.
