Whitesboro Nancy A. (Novak) Carter, 47, of Whitesboro, formerly of Westmoreland, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 2, 2008, at her home. Nancy was born in Utica on September 3, 1961, the daughter of Marvin J. and Mary E. (Fleming) Novak. She was raised and educated in Westmoreland, graduating from Westmoreland High School. Nancy was employed by the Westmoreland School System and the RCIL for many years. Nancy loved being with children, both at work and through her involvement with local youth sports. She also loved being outdoors, especially taking care of her flower garden. Nancy was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Nancy is survived by her beloved son, Travis, and his father, David Carter; her mother, Mary Novak, Westmoreland; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward and Patty Novak, Westmoreland, and Thomas and Stephen Novak, Utica; and three nieces and nephews, Jonathan Novak, Port Ewing, Andrea Novak, Albany, and Brooke Haynes and her husband, Edward, and their daughter, Kaelin Haynes, Rome. Also surviving are Nancy's mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Carter, Clark Mills; a sister-in-law, Rhonda Carter, Clark Mills; Marsha and Vincent Femia, New Hartford; Kim and Peter Hosen, Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews. Nancy's funeral will be held Friday, January 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Thursday from 4–7 p.m. Those wishing may make a donation to a charity of your choice in Nancy's memory.
