BELL, Newton Joseph, III (N.J.), 90, a life-long resident of Montgomery, AL and a life member of the First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Trustee, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2002. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, with the Reverend Jay Wolf officiating. Private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Parlor of the First Baptist Church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., prior to the services. Survivors include his wife, Alsie Myers Bell; son, Newton J. Bell, IV and wife, Barbara L. Bell, Montgomery, AL; daughter, Alsie B. Churchman and husband, Charles G. Churchman, Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Newton Joseph Bell, V, Montgomery, AL, Barbara Bell Kelley, Montgomery, AL, Alsie Jane Dowsett, Alpharetta, GA and Sarah Catherine Churchman, Norcross, GA; great-grandchild, Ashley Ann Kelley, Montgomery, AL; and one brother, Thomas A. Bell, and wife, Mary Wellborne Bell, Montgomery, AL. Pallbearers will be Louis H. Figh, Jr., Colonel D.S. Sanford, General C.O. Williams, Colonel Roger Condit, Mose W. Stuart, III, Richard Haston, W. Taylor Morrow, Judge A. Pope Gordon and James L. Rouse, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Past Presidents of the Alabama National Fair and Members of the Board of Baptist Health.
