WALKER, NELLIE ISABELLE STARNES, passed to her rest on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006. She leaves to grieve, her daughter, Donna Jean; five grandchildren, Paul, Nikke, Deena, Tim and Jon; two great-grandchildren, Brennon and Scott; one sister, Alice and one brother, Sam. She was preceded in death by Paul, her devoted husband of 68 years, and her daughter, Paula Nelle. She was born at the Homeplace in Starnes Cove, outside of Ashville, NC on November 25, 1913. She graduated from Weaverville College in 1932 and married Paul Ellis Walker in the Starnes Cove Methodist Church on July 7, 1935. They settled in Graysville, TN, where she worked along side her husband in running a grocery store and later on, keeping the books for coal mines her husband ran. In 1952 they moved to Altamonte Springs and built a home on Lake Orienta. She and her husband started Walker Hauling Company and she worked as an accountant for the company until her retirement. Nellie was an accomplished pianist and often sought after as an accompanist. She took pride in the fact she had visited 49 of the 50 states. In 1980 she and her husband retired to Chattanooga, TN where they lived for 20 years before returning to Altamonte Springs in 2000. She was a member of Forest Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church. All who knew her were blessed by her kindness and graciousness. She saw only the good in people and always put the best construction on the motives of others.
