NELLIE EVELYN (ALLEN) GODIN - MORRISVILLE - Nellie Evelyn (Allen) Godin, 83, died peacefully Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at The Manor in Morrisville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 13, 1930, in Stowe, the daughter of Lanson Allen Sr. and Helen E. "Beth" Johnson Allen. She married Romeo J. Godin on Sept. 1, 1948, in Morrisville. He predeceased her on June 8, 2012. Nellie was a faithful member of the Advent Christian Church in Morrisville where she helped with Vacation Bible School and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, W.H.F.M.S.; and the VFW Auxiliary. Prior to her marriage, Nellie was employed at Hardwick Ware Knitters. She volunteered and later attended Out and About. Nellie also provided daycare in her home for various families over the years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and talking on the phone with friends and family. She always looked forward to baby-sitting and seeing her grandchildren. Nellie is survived by her children, Shirley Ross and husband, the Rev. David Ross, of Taylorsville, N.C., Edith Baker and husband, Harold Baker, Nancy Halperin, and Allen Godin and wife, Lee Anne Godin, all of Morrisville; brother, Albert Allen of Morrisville; grandchildren, Daron Squires, Amie Dietz, Bradley Squires, Rebecca Stacey, Michael Baker, Kimberly Bowen, Trevor Halperin, Nicole Godin Williams, Adam, Brienne and Jonathan Godin; greatgrandchildren, Anthony and Alfred Stryffeler, Alexander Squires, Andrew and Peyton Bowen, Isaiah and Jadon Baker, Quinton, Isabella and Jace Stacey, Keaton, Colton and Cooper Dietz, and Anamarie Godin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was predeceased by daughter, Janet Godin; brothers, Ronald Allen, Robert Allen, Lauran Allen, Andrew Allen, and Lanson Allen Jr.; sisters, Alice Bettis, Eleanor Pratt, and Marion Parker; and infant twin siblings, Leon and Leona Allen. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Lamoille Valley Grace Brethren Church (corner of Main and Maple Streets) in Morrisville. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the White-Fiess Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Morristown Corners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Manor, Activities Fund, 577 Washington Hwy., Morrisville, VT 05661.
