MILLER, NANCY JEAN, 87La Crosse - Nancy Jean Miller, 87 of La Crosse Florida passed away peacefully at the E.T. York Care Center on Sunday, February 17, 2013 with family and friends close by her side. She was born on October 18, 1925 to Robert and Alta Fae Rech of Detroit, Michigan. Her family moved to Miami, Florida when Nancy was a young girl and she remained there until moving to Alachua in 1989 with her daughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Merton Johnson and Wendell Miller respectively, and youngest sister, Katharine Maxey. She is survived by her sister Mary Crowe (husband Ed) two daughters, Carol Roth (husband John) and Barbara Thomas (husband R.G.). Grandson David Miller (wife Analuisa) and great grandson Ryan Miller. Nancy worked as a legal secretary for twenty years while raising her family and later owned a successful mortgage, real estate and title company. Nancy touched many hearts in her later years and had many friends who were like a second family. Her laughter and warm smile were infectious, and her lasting legacy is one of happiness, helpfulness, laughter and great love. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in La Crosse on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. Those who wish to remember Nancy may make a contribution to E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center in Nancy Miller's name.
