Mrs. Myrtle Jean Carter, 44, of Lake City, died Friday, March 19, 2010 in the Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida following a brief illness. A native of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Mrs. Carter had been a resident of Lake City since the age of ten. She worked for nine years with Wendy's of Lake City and was currently employed as an associate with our local Wal-Mart. Mrs. Carter enjoyed playing board games with her children and she loved old country music. She attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter is survived by her two sons, Clifford Charles Boyett-Carter and Daniel Jean Gruber; her best friend and partner in life, Nick Carter; her mother, Eva Ricker Smith all of Lake City and a brother, Clifford Ricker of Fort White, Florida.Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Carter will be conducted at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, March 23, 2010 in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Pastor Robert Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 Tuesday afternoon just prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made at any Peoples State Bank location to account #7112.
