BROOKLET, Ga. -- Mrs. Willie Fay Pye Lee, age 77, died Tuesday morning at her residence. Born in Register, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harry Pye Sr. and Bertha Kerby Pye. Fay was a 1954 graduate of Brooklet High School. Following her graduation, Fay married Reggie Lee and the two moved to El Paso, Texas, where they resided until returning to Brooklet in 1958. She was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mother for many years. She later worked with Brooklet Drug Company for 13 years, Farmers and Merchants Bank for several years and ended her bookkeeping career when she retired from Ken's IGA following many years of service in 1992. Fay later worked as a care giver to the elderly for several years.Mrs. Lee was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Molly Lee Sunday School Class and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a member of the Brooklet Birthday Club.Fay enjoyed playing Canasta and socializing with her friend as they gathered twice a month to do so. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, yard work and walking her two miles every day. Fay was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan.Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Reggie Lee; a daughter, Pat NeSmith; and five brothers, Melvin, Lenton, Bernie, Bruce and Brooks Pye.Surviving are a daughter, Myra Lee Dupra of Brooklet; five grandchildren, Stacie and Kenny Jacobs of Brooklet, T.J. and Rachel Anderson of Bluffton, S.C., Karen and Andy Casey of Monroe, Jennie and Travis Bray of Statesboro and Jason and Holly NeSmith of Brooklet; seven great-grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Margaret Woods of Brooklet, Loretta and Bill Shurling of Ellabell, Myrtle Lee and Fred Witter of Milwaukee, Wis., and Josephine and Roy Spivey of Rincon; and a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph H. ""Junior"" Pye and Sandy of Tarpon Springs, Fla.The funeral service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Brooklet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wes Moye officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be Tommy Waters, Barry Spivey, Allen Spivey, Steve Waters, Bob Oudinot and Tim Brannen.Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Molly Lee Sunday School Class.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Brooklet United Methodist Church Building Fund, 201 North Parker Avenue, Brooklet, Ga. 30415.Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.Statesboro Herald, January 9, 2014Sign the Legacy online guestbook at www.statesboroherald.com.
