STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Sharon Elizabeth Stubbs Adams, age 68, died peacefully in her sleep at home Thursday, March 5th. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but had lived in Statesboro most of her life. Sharon was an editor with McGraw-Hill in New York City, taught English and Speech at Jenkins County High School and was the vice president and treasurer of Dr. John C. Adams Jr., P.C., psychology practice. She was a charter member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church. More recently, she was a member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and on several church committees.She was the former owner and operator of Statesboro Merchant Credit Bureau and the former co-owner of Ogeechee Travels Unlimited. Sharon was past president of Statesboro Junior Women's Club, a sustaining member of Statesboro Service League and was a past chairman of the Attic Sale. She was also past president of several PTAs. Sharon was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. But most of all, Sharon was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dr. John Chesley Adams Jr. of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Elisabeth Adams Sisson and Lew, Marietta, Ga.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Chesley Adams III, Athens, Ga., Christian Bridges Adams and Carrie, St. Louis, Mo., and Thomas Everett Adams and Meg, Powder Springs, Ga.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret Jolayne Brannen, Redding, Calif., and Susan Jones and Aleck, McDonough, Ga.; five granddaughters, sister-in-law, Gwen Stubbs, loving widow of Sharon's brother, Chip, Greenville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews and beloved friend, Jody MacCaughelty. She is also survived by many who have looked to her as a second mother throughout the years.Visitation will be held Saturday evening at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m.The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 8th, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.Active pallbearers will be Kenny Stone, Edwin Hill, Bob Lane, Pratt Hill, Ricky Nessmith, Gary Wilhelm, Kevin Wadley and Andrew Jones.Memorials may be made to the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, P.O.
