Mrs. Patricia Sanders Williams, 69 years young passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at her residence in Pace after valiantly battling cancer for 3 ½ years. Patricia was born to John B. Sanders and Lenora Johnson Sanders on January 11, 1941. Her ancestry includes Frank D. Sanders, who served as Mayor of Pensacola and also as Commissioner for many years and Princess Duck of the Santa Rosa Creek Indians. She deeply enjoyed all the great outdoors - from fishing to gardening to feeding both wild and tame animals of all kinds. She also enjoyed bowling so much that she was involved in leagues for 40+ years and fought her illness as hard as she could in an effort to continue. She found a loving home and worshiped with Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Her heart was filled with compassion, and she was quick to offer the generosity of her spirit to those in need. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years-Jimmie Ray Williams, and son-Stephen Anthony Williams. Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Downey; son, Tim (Monet) Williams; her only grandchild, Bridgette Columbus (Adam) and 3 great grandchildren (Tristan, Hailey, Paige); brother, John (Joyce) Sanders; sisters: Carol (Jim) Ryan; Brenda (Dale) Strickland; Sylvia Antone; the Williams family and several generations of cousins, nieces and nephews. The celebration of her going home began with her viewing at Lewis Funeral Home, Pace Chapel, on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 6-8 p.m., followed by funeral services on Saturday, October 30, 2010, which will be led by Pastor Mark Dees and Marion Williams.
