ANNISTON — Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ruth Carroll will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel on Golden Springs Road with the Reverends Jerry Irwin and Don Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston. The family will receive friends from 3-5 this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Carroll went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 10, 2009. Mary was born on April 8, 1918 in Altoona, Alabama. She and her husband came to Anniston in 1937. A short time later they established Lewis Carroll Jewelers on Noble Street, which they owned and operated until the death of her husband in 1982. Everyone that walked through the door of their store was considered a friend. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and was cherished by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren who called her "Big Mommie". She was a faithful member of Harvest Church of God, where she played the piano for church services for over 40 years. God has called HIS faithful servant home. After the death of her husband, she continued to enrich the lives of her family and friends. She was always a loving and compassionate person. In addition to being a true Southern lady, she was someone who could be relied upon in time of need. She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Gary L. Carroll and his wife, Cheryl, of Anniston; sister, Martha Bryant of Gadsden; her granddaughters, Angela Cameron, of Daytona Beach, Florida, Connie Martin, of Jacksonville, Natalie Beard and her husband, Tommy, of Jacksonville; grandsons, Blake Drummond and his wife, Kristy, of Heflin, and Todd Drummond and his wife, Casie, of Wellington; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She joins in Heaven her beloved husband, Lewis; her father and mother, Henry and Ida Staton; a son, Lewis Earl Carroll; grandson, Dennis Earl Carroll; and three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Nick Deljudice, Joe Prickett, Aaron Taylor, Tommy Beard, and great-grandsons, Andrew Heard and Joshua Heard. The family would like to thank the staff of Eastside on Leighton for their loyalty, kindness, support, care, and love shown to our precious loved one. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
