Mrs. Martha Ellen Moates Lee, 57, of Newington, passed Saturday at her residence. She was a native of Burke County and was employed by the Sylvania Telephone before retiring from Georgia Southern University as an immunization secretary for 18 years. She was a member of the Newington Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her child, Danny H. Lee Jr.; her sister, Mary Ellison; and her father, Herman Freeman Moates Jr. Survivors include her husband, Danny H. Lee of Newington; children, Thomas H. Lee of Statesboro, Rusty (Nicki) Lee of Newington, Zachary Ryan Lee and Daniel Nathan Lee of Newington; her mother, Geraldine Moates of Newington; and her granddaughter, Jaiden Taylor Lee of Newington. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at Little Ogeechee Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Scarborough and the Rev. Josh Caldwell officiating. Mrs. Lee will lie in state an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Little Ogeechee Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lee, Johnny Lee, Dustin McMillan, James Hall and Darriel Lee. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
