The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Margaret Baugher Harris, age 85 years, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church of Inverness, with Pastor Kip Younger officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7:00 PM Friday at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Mrs. Harris was born on July 03, 1923, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She died at Good Samaritan Hospital on April 18, 2009, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She spent her childhood in Danville, and later Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where she graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1941. Her favorite subjects were Literature and French. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, in 1946, taught Junior High and High school in Ohio, and later graduated from Otterbein College in 1947. She studied at Asbury Seminary's Masters Program for one year, where she met her future husband through her best friend, Lois Harris, during Spring Break 1952. She married Rex Donald Harris on October 19, 1952, in the Methodist Church at Bellefontaine, Ohio. In 1958, they moved to Inverness, where she taught piano for 27 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 51 years, where she was active in the Women's Circles and taught Sunday School. She was also a lifelong auxiliary member of the Gideon's International. Her hobbies were reading, playing the piano and genealogy. She was recognized as the longest-standing member in the Citrus County Genealogical Society. She is predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her daughter Lou Anne Crosswhite, of Beverly Hills, Florida, and Joanne Lee Harris of West Palm Beach, Florida.
