Katherine Joan Smith, 84, Lecanto, FL, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Joan was born February 27, 1927, in St. Johns, MI, to Fred and Irene Post of Ionia, MI. She was an interior decorator and a wonderful and loving homemaker. Joan loved gardening, flowers and a variety of crafts and she was a member of the Homosassa River Garden Club. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Nathan F. Smith and son Nathan Scott Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Knecht and husband Wayne of Grand Blanc, MI and Sukie Webb and husband Lynn of Fenton, MI; sons Fritz of Lecanto and Dana and wife Shelly of Homosassa and Kip and wife Ann of Gaylord, MI; five grandchildren, Josh, Lindsey, Danielle, Leann and Heather; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Miyah and Ashton.A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Hospice of Citrus County at P.O. Box 641270 Beverly Hills, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL.
