Mrs. Juliette "Julie" Colson Lee, 98, of Newington, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro, Georgia. The lifelong native of Newington was born to the late Roxie Inez Duggar and John Grady Colson. She married the love of her life, Ernest Edward Lee, on November 4, 1937. She was a member of the North Newington Baptist Church and the WMU at North Newington Baptist Church. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 25 years, and was also a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association. She was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Esther C. Scott. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Brenda Lee of Thomasville, Ga., and Robert E. Sr. and Paula B. Lee of Newington; a daughter and son-in-law, Judie L. and Carl Crews of Newington; grandchildren, John and Kathy Lee of Marshville, N.C., Michael and Jody Lee of Valdosta, Elizabeth L. and Cooper Embry of Gainesville, Julie M. and Jeff Moeller of Woodstock, Lee and Laurie McKinney of Calhoun, Robbie and Cheryl Lee of Fargo and Adam and Kristin Lee of Statesboro; and 20 great-grandchildren. The visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, Screven Chapel. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the North Newington Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Hall and John Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the North Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Women of North Newington Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the North Newington Baptist Church, 3652 Wiseman Road, Newington, GA 30446; or Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
