STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Frankie Mae Rivers Smith, age 88, passed into rest Tuesday, December 16, 2009, at the Westwood Nursing Center. She was a Bulloch County native and a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church, where she served as mother of the church until her heath failed. Mrs. Smith was retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker. Memories will be cherished by her children: Elmore (Cheryl) Smith and Rosa (George) Jackson, both of Statesboro, Ga., Jane Sanders, Hinesville, Ga., Mattie Smith, Sylvania, Ga., Wanda Brack of Statesboro, Ga., Delphinia Elliott, Greensboro, N.C., and Lavern Smith (Terry) Statesboro, Ga.; a stepson, Styles Davis, Statesboro, Ga.; a brother, King Edward (Barbra) Rivers, Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, Lenora (Edward) King, Statesboro, Ga.; 31 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, other loving relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church, 760 Magnolia Church Road, with the pastor, the Rev. Ira Hendrix, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Final rites entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
