STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Daniel Wayne "Danny" Stewart, age 55, died Monday morning, December 29, 2014, at his residence following a brief illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1977 graduate of Portal High School. Danny worked for many years as a manager with Food Lion Grocery Stores, Dairy Queen in Statesboro and had been employed with Georgia Southern University Postal Services for the past 10 years.Danny enjoyed playing piano throughout his life. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Portal, where he had served as the church pianist for over 34 years. Also, Danny served as the pianist for the Statesboro Kiwanis Club for many years and played at several nursing homes.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Jane Newton Stewart and J.C. Stewart; a brother, Jimmie Stewart, and a brother-in-law, Fett "Buddy" Burke Jr.Surviving are a sister, Betty Jean Burke of Bloomingdale; two aunts, Shirley Brannen of Statesboro and Bonnie Stewart of Portal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.The funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Jenkins and the Rev. Kyle Oglesby officiating.
