The death of Mona Elizabeth McCormack of King George Highway, Miramichi, NB occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the age of 80. Born in Newcastle, NB, Mona was the daughter of the late of the late Stafford and Ida (Clany) McCormack. Mona was in employed with NBTel for 19 years and attended St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Newcastle, NB, avid curler, loved her garden, doing yard work and loved to bake for others. Mona is survived by two sisters: Hilda Turnbull of Guelph, ON and Evelyn McCormack of Newcastle, NB; one brother Percy of Douglastown, NB and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three sisters: Helen, Lillian and Irene and two brothers: Earl and Blair. Visitation was held at Bell's Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service was held on Thursday November 27, 2008 at 2 PM with Rev. Richard Steeves officiating assisted by Captain Rose Steeves. Organist Dawn Bell was accompanied by the church choir. The soloist Kim Shaddick sang " Breath on Me Breath of God" and "In The Garden. Active Pallbearers were Rick O'Kane, Darren Trevors, Jerry Smith, Ricky Malliet, Corey Shaddick and Wally McLean. Burial will take in the Miramichi Cemetery later in spring. In Mona's memory a donation may be made to the NB Lung Association, NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
