April 10, 1911-Jan. 4, 2008 Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, in the chapel of Little Davenport Funeral Home for Mintie Mae Souther Smith, age 86 of Gainesville. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Ralph Green will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at New Horizons North Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born in Hall County to the late Homer and Lizzie Souther. She taught Sunday school for more than 45 years and was a longtime member of Riverbend Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, G. Henry Smith; sisters, Ruby Hughes and Pearl Smallwood; and brothers, Ernest Souther, Jesse Souther and Garland Souther. She is survived by her daughter, Adelle Hodge, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Betty Smith, Clermont; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildrenp; and five great-great-granchildren.
