Mina Louise Godwin1922-2011born May 29, 1922, in Pensacola, Florida, died on August 29, 2011, in Newnan, Georgia. She is predeceased by her parents, Aaron Willis and Wilhelmina Chaudron Godwin, sister Portia Delania Carpenter, and brother Melvin Eugene Godwin. She is survived by brother Willis Gerard Godwin (Mae) of Charleston, SC, and brother Roy Edward Godwin (Faye) of Chattahoochee Hills, GA. She is also survived by beloved nephews and nieces: Everett K. Carpenter, Jr., Pensacola, FL, Madeline Portia Waldrup, Citronelle, AL, Marsha Louise Reid, Citronelle, AL, Kenneth Edward Godwin, Charleston, SC, Geoffrey Alan Godwin, Wildwood, MO, and Derek Chaudron Godwin, Salem, OR, and also by Dorisan Godwin, Tampa, FL, widow of Melvin Godwin. Ms. Godwin was a graduate of North Charleston (Chicora) High School, North Charleston, SC, and attended Pensacola Junior College, Pensacola, FL. She was a veteran, serving in both the United States Army and United States Army Air Force. She was a civil service employee at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL, until her retirement. There will be a memorial service at the graveside at St. Johns Cemetery, Pensacola, FL, on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10 AM, with Chaplain Jason Adams, of Emerald Coast Hospice presiding. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to Healthfield Hospice, Newnan, GA, or the hospice of your choice. Eastern Gate Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangments.
