WALLINGFORD - Mildred "Millie" Wood, 82, of Wallingford, died Tuesday, May 2, 2007, at MidState Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on Dec. 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mabel (Saas) Wood. She attended Meriden Schools and retired from the Town of Wallingford, Finance Department, where she was employed for 25 years and was affectionately known to many as the "Christmas Tree Lady". She is survived by many special friends, whose lives she brightened with her colorful personality. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry L. Wood. Relatives and friends will be received at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Tuesday from 5 until 6:20 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Interment services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Road, Meriden.
