Mildred Viola Wood, 80, of Panama City, went home to be with her Jesus on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. She is survived by two daughters: June Freeman and husband Ronnie of Panama City, and Judy Wallace and husband Jim of Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Dana Lozano and husband Greg of Montana, Sheryle Warren and husband Joe of Panama City, Kristi Ford and Brian Vause of Panama City, Jimmy Wallace and wife Sara of Greenville, SC, Wendy Wallace of Greenville, SC; Jennifer and Tessa Burkett of Panama City; and nine great-grandchildren. She was lovingly known as "Granny Wood" by Joey and Tracy Tyson and Terri Bishop and many others. She had lived in this area most of her life and was a member of Springfield Community Church. She was preceded in death by her sons: J.R. Burkett and Johnny Burkett; her brothers: James, Gilbert and Buddy Denton; and her only sister: Mary Strickland.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Ronnie Freeman, Joe Warren, Jimmy Wallace, Larry Strickland, Danny Strickland, and Brian Vause. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Home just prior to services.The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Rachael, Casie, Jennifer, and the staff of Community Health and Rehab.
