Toccoa - Mrs. Mildred Todd Davis, age 81, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of Toccoa, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 at the Peachtree Village Personal Care Home in Commerce, GA.A daughter of the late Kendall C. and Gertrude Brackett Todd, she was born on March 23, 1924 in Stephens County, Georgia. She was a tireless supporter of the Toccoa community and lived most of her adult life in Toccoa. She and her late husband, Harry D. Davis, founded Davis Transfer Company in 1951. They were longtime members of the Carnes Creek Community where they raised their family. She moved to Athens, GA in 1999 to be near her family. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Toccoa, she devoted much of her time to civic groups and her love to travel. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for forty-nine years. During that time she held all local and district offices. In 1969 she was elected State Department President, she was a past president of the Womenís Club of Toccoa and also a member of the Toccoa Pilot Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harry D. Davis, a daughter, Karen R. Davis, and by two sisters, Margaret T. Cunningham and Helen Todd.Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Davis and Sharon W. Davis of Athens, GA, and Bill Davis and Tiffany H. Davis of Lakemont, GA, five grandchildren, Stephanie Davis Slate and husband Brian Slate, Todd Davis and wife Mercer B. Davis all of Athens, GA, Benjamin Davis of Greenville, SC, and Drew Davis and Lexy Davis of Lakemont, GA, four great- grandchildren, Mackinlee Slate, Carolene Slate, Davis Slate, and Harrison Davis all of Athens, GA, two brothers, Harold Todd and wife Doris Todd of Snellville, GA, Kendall Todd and wife Latrelle Todd of Lawrenceville, GA, sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Inez) Davis of Dunwoody, GA, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, 11 oíclock, at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Mr. Clarence Davis officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers and will please assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Ken Todd, Brian Slate, Todd Davis, Ben Davis, Ronnie Williams, and Johnny Smith.Flowers are optional and those who desire may give memorial contributions to the St. Maryís Hospice of Athens, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604, in memory of Mrs. Mildred Todd Davis.The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.Interment will be in Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
