Mike Phillips and Bro. Kevin Smith officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Smith, who died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton, was born March 14, 1938, in Lawrence County to Leo Sparks and Gracie Heflin Sparks. She was retired as an LPN from Lawrence County Hospital. She was a charter and faithful member of First Apostolic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Phillip Smith; one grandson, Todd Parker Starks; and her father and mother-in-law, Atwell and Viola Smith.Survivors include her husband, Hershel Smith; three sons, Carl (Judy) Smith of Trinity, Kenny (Kim) Smith of Athens and Rev. Kevin (Debra) Smith of Trinity; one daughter, Wanda (Glenn) Starks of Trinity; four brothers, Rayburn Sparks of Indiana, Glen Sparks, Dale Sparks and Frankie Sparks, all of Trinity; one sister, Janet Voss of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Proctor, Brad Smith, Kellie Proctor, Felicia Burton, Jeremiah Smith, Jennifer Smith and Tiffany Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be Josh Voss, Zach Voss, Brian Proctor, Johnathan Burton, Bro. Eric Hampton and Bro. Keith Haynes.Honorary pallbearers will be members of First Apostolic Church.
