Mildred Elizabeth "Betty" Grant Smith, 82, widow of Dr. Stanley Thomas Smith, of Rolling Green Village, died March 4, 2005.Born in New Orleans, La., she was a daughter of the late Walter K. and Mildred Snyder Grant.Mrs. Smith was a resident of Beaumont, Texas, before moving to Greenville in 1993, where her husband was a practicing dentist. She was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in New Orleans, La.Surviving are two sons, Dr. Stanley T. Smith Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Augusta, Ga., and Dr. Grant M. Smith and his wife, Hollis D., of Greenville; her sister, Mary Coyle of New Orleans, La.; her brother, Walter K. Grant Jr., of Pascagoula, Miss.; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Colin, Chandler, Brock, Meredith and Ashley Smith.Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Remembrance Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rolling Green Village, 1 Hoke Smith Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615; or to the charity of one's choice.The Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive.
