Mildred Smith, 81, died Jan. 25, 2013, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, Fort Pierce. She was born in Cheriton, Va., and lived in Fort Pierce for 61 years, coming from Belle Glade. She was a member of Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Mustafa Muhammad, Larry Ricks, William Ricks and Charles Smith, all of Fort Pierce, Eugene Brooks of Utica, N.Y., and Carlton Leroy Bucherman of Decatur, Ga.; daughters, Elizabeth Brooks-Anderson and Francina Ricks-Cox, both of Fort Pierce; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death her sons, Johnny Brooks and Michael Ricks; daughter, Mary Wright; brother, Buddy Ricks; and sister, Neva Moye. Services: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church and 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at Sarah's Memorial Chapel. A home-going service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.sarahsmemorial.com.
