Mildred Smith, née en 1922, conjointe de Carole Smith, fille de Joseph et Dorothy, est décédée le 1 avril 2011.
SMITH MILDRED JOSEPHINE (nee Clarke) The family sadly announces her passing peacefully at Stensrud Lodge, on Friday, April 1, 2011. Jose is survived by her four sons, Keeble (partner Carole) of Calgary, Alta. and children Merrell Ann, Cindy, Tracy and Brent; Brent (partner Dani) of Saskatoon and children Jason and Bobbi; Keith (Janice) of Lantzville, B.C. and children Jilly and Joey; Brice (partner Karen) of Nanaimo, B.C . and children Jackie and Kelly. Great grandchildren Josh, Joel, Amanda, Jacob, Lukas, Josie, Brooklyn, Sophie, Jai. Jose was predeceased by her husband Bob and her parents Joseph and Dorothy Clarke as well as daughter Patty Lynn who died in infancy. Jose was born February 21, 1922 in Dauphin, MB where she received her education before moving to Saskatoon upon getting married. Mumma, as she was affectionately known, was a home body but kept busy with her volunteer activities. She was a founding member of the YWCA Opportunity Shop and spent many hours working at the shop. She organized the first Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal residential canvas and supported the Salvation Army all her life. Helping others was her way. She was always concerned about family and friends, tending to their needs ahead of her own and ensuring she did all that she could to care for everyone. She loved to have her family, complete with grandchildren and pets, visit with her. The more the merrier was her modus operandi: the more confusion and mayhem at a family gathering the happier she was. She enjoyed cooking for special occasions, ensuring there was always double the necessary food for the occasion. Her special retreat for over 30 years was the family cottage at Emma Lake. This was her sanctuary enjoying all that lake living offered while entertaining family and friends. Many years she spent all summer at the cottage and throughout the rest of the year, weekends. Travel beyond was not necessary to her. She had a love for gardening, birds and having "her " special Christmas tree for all to enjoy. The family wishes to acknowledge with special thanks the caring staff at Stensrud Lodge where Mom resided over the last 8 months, they went above and beyond in caring for Mom, providing superior care and understanding during the last 2 weeks. Those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers may do so to the Saskatoon YWCA (510-25th Street East, Saskatoon, S7K 4A7) or the Salvation Army (101-1027 8th Street East, Saskatoon S7H 0S2). Respecting Jose's wishes there will be no funeral service. Cremation. To send online condolences to the family, visit www.parkfuneral.ca . Arrangements have been entrusted to Cheryl Carlson, PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL, 306.244.2103 .
