LACONIA - Mildred Hoyt, 89, of Union Avenue, died Friday, June 3, 2005 at The Taylor Home. She was the widow of Dr. Willis H. Hoyt, who died September 15, 2001. Mrs. Hoyt was born June 19, 1915, in Danvers, Mass., the daughter of Sevair and Caroline S. (Scheufele) St. Pierre. Mrs. Hoyt graduated from Concord High School, and in 1941, she graduated from the Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing in Hanover. She was a Red Cross nurse for 25 years. Mrs. Hoyt moved to Laconia in 1947. In 1952, she moved to Gilford, where she lived until 1996, when she moved to The Taylor Home. Mrs. Hoyt was a member of the Gilford Community Church. She was a volunteer at the blood bank, the foot clinic, the Gilford Outing Club and a member of the Lakes Region Community Services Council. She was an avid gardener and baker. She is survived by her two sons, David Jerome Hoyt of Coventry, Conn., and Thomas J. Hoyt of Gilford and Thailand; a daughter, Katherine Thorndike of Meredith; 10 grandchildren, Jamie Connelly of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Watkins of Gilford, Amy Allen of Massachusetts, Michael Hoyt of Bolton, Conn., Jennifer Miller of Laconia, Cari Thompson of Northfield, Lisa Thomas of Meredith, Lillian Miner of Coventry, Conn., Kevin Dupont of Laconia and Nicholas Thorndike, of Meredith; six great grandchildren, Daylon Thompson of Northfield, Danial Thomas and Stephaine Thomas, both of Meredith, Chloe Watkins of Gilford, and Elizah Miller and Katie Miller, both of Laconia; a brother, Walter St. Pierre of Nichols Hills, Okla.; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Hoyt, and by her siblings, Paul St. Pierre, Stowell St. Pierre, Robert St. Pierre and Barbara Bass. Calling hours will not be held. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Gilford Community Church, Potter Hill Road, Gilford. The Rev. Michael Graham, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main St., Laconia, 03246 or to The Taylor Home Community, 435 Union Avenue, Laconia, 03246.
