MARLBOROUGH, Mass., - Mildred Marie (Pinkston) Smith, 88, formerly of Franklin, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Marlborough. Born in Castleford, Idaho, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ruth (Robertson) Pinkston and the wife of the late Edward Fay Smith, who died in 1995.She had served, along with her husband, as the Fire Warden for the Federal Forest Service in Mountain Home, Idaho.She is survived by her three children, Douglas A. Smith and his wife Bess of North Andover, Mass., Rebecca Blanton of Berlin and her partner Michael Hinds of Worcester, Mass, Christopher Smith and his partner Bryn Russell of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren Kristin and Tony Ells, Douglas and Jen Smith, Alex and Beth MacLeod, Cindy Smith and Ernie Noyes, Jon and Jess Blanton, David Blanton, Bolton Russell; 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Marie was pre-deceased by her daughter Geraldine MacLeod and her son-in-law Alexander (Sandy) MacLeod and her seven siblings.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, at 10 a.m. at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, Mass. Visiting hours will be held Monday Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.Burial will be held at the National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.
