Wood, Mildred M. May 11, 1925 - Oct. 26, 2014 Mildred M. Wood, 89, of North Port, FL, died on Oct. 26, 2014. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Fri., Oct. 31, 2014 at Kays-Ponger & Usleton Funeral Home in 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL, 33952. Services will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Sat., at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home in 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL, 33952. Funeral arrangements by: Kays-Ponger Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Services Port Charlotte Chapel. Burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Mildred had a big heart and volunteered at many organizations, she was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and a member of the Al-Anon. She was also a past member of the congregation of South Venice Baptist Church. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew her. She is survived by her children, David Wood and wife Sherri of North Port, FL, Michael Wood and special friend Cynthia Harrison of Naples, FL, Laura Wood and her partner Tammy Stephens of Englewood, FL and Joseph Wood of Pulaski, TN; grandchildren, Heather of Tallmadge, OH, Benjamin of North Port, FL, Michael Jr., of Atlanta, GA, Jasmine of Pulaski, TN and Alex of Tallahassee, FL; and by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her loving husband Elmo, daughter, Darlene and great-grandchild, Carson.
