Mildred Frances Allen, 77, of Highway 25, passed away Aug. 20, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.Mildred was a charter member of Lima Church of God, where she served in various positions, including clerk, choir director and Sunday school teacher over a period of more than 50 years. She retired from Dan River-Woodside Plant in 1985.Mrs. Allen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She spent her time caring for her family and her church. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Homer Allen; sons, John E. Allen and M. Homer Allen; daughters, Myra Jean Martinez, Susan G. Allen, Esther M. Tuttle and Faith B. Reid; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen Lewis Allen, and a grandson, John Anthony Allen.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Johnson Funeral Home in Travelers Rest.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lima Church of God. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Gardens.
