He was born Feb. 7, 1956, a son of Jacquelyn J. (Skop) Underwood of Chelmsford and the late William E. Underwood, who died in 1994. He graduated from Chelmsford High School 1974. He attended St. Anselm's College in Manchester, N.H., and the University of Lowell. Prior to his illness, Mr. Underwood was employed as a sales representative for Underwood Sales Corp. in Lowell. He was a black belt in karate, an avid skier and was a member of the Lowell Water Ski Club. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Carol S. Underwood of Phoenix and Susan A. Strauss and her husband, Ronald of Tyngsboro; a brother, William E. Underwood Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Little Falls, N.J.; a niece, Kathryn Strauss and three nephews, Jeff Strauss, Max Underwood and Jack Underwood.
