SMITH, Michael Sidney 1939 - 2007 It is with a great sense of loss and sadness that we announce the death of Michael Smith (Mike) on Wednesday, August 29 from cancer, which he faced with courage and dignity as he did with most things in life. He was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England and after graduating from London School of Economics he lived in various cities in England. In 1967 he married Chris and they immigrated to Toronto. In 1980 he and his family moved to Calgary. After his family, Mike's greatest interests were history, cars, fine wines, and he had a great love of animals. Mike was predeceased by his thirty-one year old son Mark in 2002. Left to mourn are his wife Chris, his daughter Laura (Jim) Lobsinger, his much loved grandson Carlin Delorme, relatives in England, and many close friends in England, Scotland and Canada. His departure leaves a huge gap in our lives. At Mike's request there will be no Funeral Service, but Chris, Laura and Jim would like to invite friends to an open house at Mike's home on Sunday, September 9 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate his life.
