Michael Philip Mahoney of Burnt Hills, NY, passed away June 26, 2010, at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Mike lived his entire life in upstate New York. He was born on April 11, 1952 in Glens Falls, NY. He was the son of Philip and Peg Mahoney and the late Veronica Malone. Mike is the beloved brother of Peggy Mahoney, Patrick Mahoney, Kathy Michalski, and Francis Mahoney. He is survived by his wife, Pat; and his three children, Jeff, who resides in Connecticut and works for ESPN, Katie, a librarian at a law library, and Dan, who is pursuing a master's degree in education. He received both his bachelor's degree in economics and his master's degree in accounting from the State University of New York in Oneonta and Albany. For 31 years Mike worked in the Tax Department at KPMG. In 1987, Mike became a partner. He retired as a federal tax partner in 2009. In addition, he was the Tax Professional Practice Partner for the Albany/Upstate New York business unit. While enjoying retirement for only a short time, he continued to enjoy golfing, hunting and fly fishing. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. on June 30 at Our Lady of Grace Church. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Warrensburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church, 73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12020 or Ellis Hospital, Oncology Unit, 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
