Lewis, Michael K.Aug. 2, 1938 - Dec. 10, 2011Michael Kemp Lewis, Sr. passed on to eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla. on Aug. 2, 1938, and resided most of his life in Florida as a native. He is survived by his wife, Susan Delmas Lewis; son, Michael Lewis, Jr.; daughter, Kelly Liebel; son-in-law, Scott Liebel; grandsons, Matthew and Alex Liebel all of Sarasota; brothers, Jack Lewis and Woody Lewis.Known to his friends as "Kemp", he located to Sarasota in 1982 to take ownership of the local automobile dealership Royal Oldsmobile-GMC Trucks Co. until his retirement in 2004. He was known as an honest and respected stanchion of the business community. He was also a longtime benefactor of the Girls Incorporated of Sarasota County organization, charter member of Tournament Players Club at Prestancia, and member of the Field Club.Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday Dec. 17, 2011 at the Church of the Incarnation located at 2901 Bee Ridge Road.
