Michael J. Sullivan, a resident of Blauvelt since 1964 died on February 11, 2001 at Nyack Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1926 in the Bronx to John and Hannah O'Donnell Sullivan. During WWII, Mr. Sullivan served in the US Navy. He was a Lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department for over 30 years in the Bronx and the Hi-Rise Unit in Manhattan before retiring in 1987. He was a parishioner of St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife, Marian nee Waters; his son, Chris and his wife Cindy, his daughter. Denise Mingione and her husband Steve; and his sister, Mary Moran. He was an adored grandfather of Donna and Michael Mingione and Stephanie Lawter. He is also survived by a great-grandson, Julian Lawter and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sullivan was predeceased by his sister, the late Hannah Hughes. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt with burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nyack Hospital Foundation, 160 N. Midland Avenue, Nyack, NY 10960.
