SIMONE Michael J., of Woodland Park, passed away April 16, 2009. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was also a life member of the West Paterson Fire Co. #1 and a member of the Exempt Fireman's Association. He spent twenty five years in law enforcement as a correction officer at the Passaic County Sheriff's Department in Paterson. He was an active member of the American Legion Post # 238 as well as the West Paterson Seniors. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Paterson. Beloved husband to Vincenza (nee Longobardi). Cherished father to Michael Jr. and his wife Valerie, Phillip and his wife Marlene, and Richard and his wife Karen. Adored grandfather to his 6 grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Frank Simone and sister Laura DePompe. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visiting will be Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. The funeral Mass will be Monday, 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 70 Murray Avenue, Paterson. Guests may arrive at funeral home at 8:30 AM. Cremation will be private by request of the family.
