<!-- FH = PINECREST FUNERAL CHAPEL --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->HARDIN, Michael J. 63, Spring Hill, was born at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS, to Thomas and MaeBelle Hardin. Michael and his mother traveled and lived in several different states and the Philippines as they followed his father during his career in the Air Force. After his father's retirement, Michael and his family settled in St. Petersburg in the early 1960's. His parents preceded him in death. Michael leaves behind his wife, Michele (Timber Pines, Spring Hill); stepchildren, Ian and Jessica Mischloney (John Eliason) of Floral City; sister, Judy Lowry (Bob) of Hudson; brothers, Rick (Karen) of Sonoita, AZ, and Scott (Linda) of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, James Hardin (fianc&eacute;e Caitlin) of Great Falls, MT; along with his loving in-laws, Rita and Carl Scheuner, Linda and Milo Coleman, Lisa and Steve Whitman. Michael started working with Publix Super Markets in St. Pete at the age of 16. He also attended St. Pete Jr. College and USF where he obtained his bachelors degree. His successful and rewarding career with Publix spanned over 40 years. Michael was passionate about taking care of his customers and devoted his time to the Spring Hill/Brooksville community. He was honored to be president of the Hernando County United Way and worked diligently on the United Way Allocations committee for many years. He was also involved for years with the Spring Hill Rotary Club. One of many shining moments for Michael and the one he was most proud of came in 1996 when Publix awarded him the prestigious "Mr. George" Community Service Award. Michael was so proud of Jessica and her accomplishments in the "Grocery Business" and never missed an opportunity to share this with everyone. During his retirement he devoted his time to volunteering at the Arc Nature Coast of Hernando County, a center for adults with disabilities, where his beloved son, Ian attends. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Feb. 20, 2014 at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel, 3369 Mariner Blvd. Spring Hill FL. In lieu of flowers, Michael requested donations be made to the Arc Nature Coast of Hernando County, 5823 Neff Lake Road, Brooksville, FL 34601, PH: 352-544-2322.
