<!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Michael G. Sullivan COLUMBIA - Michael G. Sullivan, 69, died on September 25, 2014. Michael was born on July 3, 1945, on Staten Island in New York, to the late Mitchel C. and Shirley P. Sullivan. Michael served as a rifle platoon sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1965 through 1967. After the war, he graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1969. He served as a Trooper First Class for the Vermont State Police for three years, then founded Mountain State Security Incorporated to provide security guards and alarm systems for clients. Michael graduated from the Vermont Law School in 1979, and served as an associate attorney for Stiller, Adler, Schwartz & Kaswell in Washington, D.C. Later he took a position as general counsel for Plumbago Mining Corporation, and later for Point Worenzof Mining Corporation. In 1984, Michael founded and served as president of Fee Control Group, Incorporated, a legal service to manage attorneys fees in complex litigation. In 1988, Michael moved to Columbia, South Carolina, and practiced commercial litigation as a solo practitioner until his retirement in 2012. Michael was the author or co-author of a number of publications by the South Carolina Bar Association, served on an Attorney General's subcommittee on criminal domestic violence, and was a board member of A Children's Research Center. In 2004, he co-founded SideBar, LLC, a producer of continuing legal education seminars by video. Michael was an avid and accomplished motorcyclist. He published a column monthly in Motorcycle Consumer News Magazine, and attended race schools at Las Vegas Speedway, Road Atlanta, and Virginia International Raceway. Michael is survived by a daughter, Raani Tiwari Sullivan, and a son, Kane Nataraj Sullivan, and many, many friends. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 4 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Michael's home, 2206 Terrace Way. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting with arrangements.
