Michael E. Fleming NEWMARKET - Michael E. Fleming died suddenly at his home on Grant Road, January 8, 2014, at the age of 59. He was the son of the late Frank and Thelma Fleming. Mike graduated from Winter Park High School and attended Daytona Beach Community College and Rollins College in Florida. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees, before moving to Newmarket, where he and his late brother, James D. Fleming, worked as construction contractors. They built homes for both himself and their parents in Newmarket. Later, he worked as a lock installation contractor with his brother William. Mike was a member of the American Citizens Club of Polish Descent and the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 67 in Newmarket. He loved golf, and was a member of the "Fab Five", a family scramble group comprised of himself and his brothers, Jim and Bill, and his nephews, Kevin and Ryan. After Jim's passing, Mike's son, Sean, Newmarket High School Golf Team's number one man, filled in quite capably. Mike enjoyed playing softball for many years as a member of "Luke's Flukes" in the Newmarket Men's Softball League. Many of his teammates became lifelong friends. Michael's legacy to all who knew him was his beaming Irish smile and infectious laugh. One had a brighter day if they ran into Mike. He loved life and lived it fully. But most of all he loved his son, Sean, of whose athletic and academic successes he was so proud. Sean is currently enrolled at Keene State College. He is survived by sons, Sean Fleming, Steven Wasiewski and Mike Mikell; his brother, Bill Fleming, of Newmarket; his late brother Jim's widow, Deborah Fleming of Durham; nephews, Ryan Fleming and Kevin Fleming; and longtime friend Joseph Bailey of Durham. Michael is also survived by his former spouse, Cynthia E. Fleming, and grandchildren, Landan and Conner Wasiewski. His son, Jamie Wasiewski, predeceased him. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket. S.A.L. services will be held at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
