Michael David Coffey Sr. June 28, 1937 - August 30, 2012 Norwich - Michael David Coffey, Sr., 75, of 526 Canterbury Turnpike left this world and life surrounded by all his family. Mike was born in Norwich on June 28, 1937 the son of the late John P. and Alice (Rondeau) Coffey. He owned and operated Coffey's Disposal Service for over 30 years. He was a life member of the Occum Vol. Fire Dep. He was an avid pool player and was a member of the APA Association. He love bowling with the Firemen's Bowling League being captain of the Occum Fire Dept. team. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Ponemah Council #34 of Taftville, a Fourth Degree member of the same council, and was also a member of the Alhambras Alahor Caravan. He was a former member of the Norwich Lodge of Elks. Mike also owned and raced Greyhound dogs. He enjoyed singing especially with his grandchild and great grandchild Joshua and Krystal. On February 16, 1957 he married Patricia (Bourret) Coffey at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown who survives him. They shared fifty-five years of marriage. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, John M. Coffey of Norwich. Three daughters, Darlene A. Patton of Norwich, Jill A. Coffey of Taftville and Patricia C. Ashford of Norwich. One foster daughter, Patricia Fairies of Canterbury. One sister, Alice Mullikin of No. Dakota. 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Philip and daughter-in-law Robin (Riley) Coffey and his second son Michael D. Coffey, Jr. Two sisters, Claire Renkiewicz and twin sister Mary Sebastian and one brother John Coffey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 A.M at St. Joseph Church in Occum meeting directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville will be Friday (TODAY) from 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of S.E. CT., 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
