The funeral service for Mr. Michael Anthony Hamilton, age 36, of Decatur, will be Thursday, March 29, 2007, 2 p.m., at Shelton Funeral Home chapel, Decatur, with the Rev. Errol McCladdie officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 28, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.After a five-year battle with cancer, Mr. Hamilton passed away at his home Tuesday, March 27, 2007. He was born Sept. 4, 1970, in Athens, Ala., and was employed by L.G. Electronics. He was a graduate of Athens State University and a member of Decatur Baptist Church.He is survived by his parents, Janice Roberts, of Decatur, and Mike and Angela Hamilton, of Florence; one sister, Audra Hamilton, of Florence; one daughter, Haley Beth Hamilton; and her mother, Andrea Crawford, of Decatur; grandparents, Houston and Ehrma Whitt, of Athens, and Mrs. Lila Hamilton, of Rogersville.He was preceded in death by his brother, Brent Hamilton, and grandfather, James Hamilton.Pallbearers will be James Thrasher, Lynn Pointer, Larry Payne, Darren Urban, Lyle Standridge and Terry Roberts.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
