POWER Melvin Leigh Power Sr., died October 7, 2012. Leigh was born at Leigh Memorial Hospital on September 10, 1934 in Norfolk, VA to the late Melvin Timothy and Cora Lee Power. He graduated from Granby High School (1952) and received a full scholarship to VPI (Virginia Tech) where he was a member of the Cadet Corps . He's been married 57 years to Peggy. Leigh began working for Seaboard Airline Railroad in 1955 and retired from CSX as a bridge clearance engineer in 1986. Leigh was an active member of Avondale United Methodist Church and Faithful Friends Class since 1967. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed meeting new friends as part of his weekly games. He is predeceased by his son Melvin Leigh Power Jr. (2005). Leigh is survived by his wife Peggy and their children: Tammy Lou and Mark Andrew Power, Jacksonville; Timothy Scott Power (Sandi) Dacula GA., four grandchildren; Monica Lynn Gassman (Jim) Braselton, GA; Timothy Leigh Power Lawrenceville, GA; Marc Dalton and Alexander Scott Power Dacula, GA., and great grandchild Payton Leigh Power Lawrenceville, GA. Memorials in Leigh's name may be made to Florida Methodist Children's Home in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will be held at Avondale United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 am.
