Mellie Florence Hodges Morris, 98, of Upton, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.She was a member of Upton Baptist Church. She was born on May 16, 1914, in LaRue County.She was the daughter of the late Wilburn and Blanche Thurman Hodges. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Morris; a sister, Alva Humes; two half brothers, Wilburn T. Hodges Jr. and Elmer Hodges; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Blevins.She is survived by two sons, Don (Laura) Morris of Cecilia, and Kenny (Joyce) Morris of Upton; a half sister, Emogene Gardner of Hodgenville; grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Blevins of Bowling Green, Steve (Leah) Morris of Upton, Stephanie (Stephen) Sheeran of Elizabethtown, and Kennetha (Charles) Day of Upton; and eight great-grandchildren, Samantha Sheeran, Meritt Blevins, Kyle Sheeran, Gavin Morris, Jeffrey Grissom, Savannah Morris, Isabella Day, and Ellie Grace Day.The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial follows in Upton Cemetery.Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday or 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton.
