Melissa Anne Miller January 2, 1992 - October 23, 2009 Canterbury - Melissa Anne Miller, 17, of 114 Colburn Rd. passed away Friday evening at Yale-New Haven Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. She was born January 2, 1992 in Windham the beloved daughter of John A. Miller and Jane (Ouellet) Brousseau both of Canterbury. Melissa lived in Canterbury for most of her life. She attended the Dr. Helen Baldwin School where she was active in cheerleading. Melissa was a 2009 graduate of Norwich Free Academy and was currently a student at Three Rivers Community College where she was enrolled in the Registered Nurse program. She was employed at Better Val-U in Canterbury for the past year and a half. Melissa enjoyed quilting, cooking and loved spending time with children. Melissa had a dynamic outgoing personality. She lit up the room with her smile. She was a bright and shining star in everyone's life that she touched. Besides her parents survivors include her stepfather Dewey Brousseau, her maternal grandparents Roger and Bonnie Ouellet and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by a stepsister Jenny McMechon, her maternal grandmother Janet Ouellet and her paternal grandparents Joseph and Denise Miller. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00AM at the First Congregational Church of Canterbury, Rt. 169, Canterbury. Burial will follow in Dean Cemetery, Canterbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Canterbury Fire Dept. Rt. 14, Canterbury, CT. 06331. Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home, Plainfield has been entrusted with arrangements.
