WEIDMAN , Mavis L. (Anderson) June 4, 1917 - June 20, 2009 Mavis Louise (nee Anderson) Weidman went to her Heavenly home at age 92 in Fort Myers, FL. She was born to pioneer farmers Carl and Florence Anderson of Langdon, AB, attended school in Langdon, Calgary and Three Hills, and began sharing Jesus with children as an itinerant summer Bible school leader. She attended Moody Bible Institute, led Christian education training conferences for pastors, Sunday School and youth workers, and served as National Sunday School Secretary for the Christian and Missionary Alliance from 1952 to 1967. She married Claire O. Weidman in 1960. Through her lifelong passion and commitment to Christian education, churches and Sunday schools across the U.S. and Canada grew numerically and in effectiveness. She went on to serve as a consultant with Scripture Press and Evangelical Teacher Training Association, establish nursery schools in her churches in New York and Florida, and after retirement, she and Claire continued to work with churches throughout the nation, receiving the "Excellence in Ministry to Children" award at the 1996 International Children's Pastor Conference. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 27 in Fort Myers, FL. Donations may be made to Ambrose University College, 150 Ambrose Circle S.W., Calgary, AB T3H 0L5.
