Maurice Gaudreault Local artist Maurice Gaudreault died peacefully at his home in Fauquier on Aug. 11. He was 67 years old. Mr. Gaudreault was born Sept. 28, 1932 in Moonbeam and raised in Timmins. He spent time over the last 20 years working on clay sculptures, helping to preserve the heritage of the area, which is now on display beside the Ron Morel Memorial Train Museum. "It is a great loss," said museum curator Julie Latimer. "Both for the artistic community but also for anyone that has visited the craven and his work or intends to in the future. He was an artist who had a vision of the past and his work touched everyone even if they did not live the same past." He was predeceased by his parents Géneviva and Francois Xavier and sister Ruth Lauzon. Surviving is sister Alphonsine (Henry) Vickers of Trenton, brother-in-law Arnest Lauzon and nine nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the Funeral Home Chapel and cremation at J. H. Fleury Crematorium. Mr. Gaudreault will be interred at the Moonbeam cemetery. A Maurice Gaudreault Foundation has been set up at Canada Trust for anyone wishing to make a donation.
