FORT KENT - Maurice E. "Mo" Morin, 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Grande Riviere, Gaspe County, Quebec, the son of Fred A. and Albina (Lagasse) Morin. Maurice served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. He graduated from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance, Boston, now known as Bentley University, Waltham, Mass. He was employed at Chester M. Kearny Co., R. J. Levesque and Sons Inc., and was self-employed as a licensed public accountant and enrolled agent for 34 years in Fort Kent. He served as treasurer of the Jaycees and Fort Kent Development Corp. He was a director of Chamber of Commerce, and was a member and past president of Fort Kent Rotary Club. Maurice also served for many years on the finance committee of St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent, and was a member of VFW Lozier O'Grady Post No. 9609 of Fort Kent. Maurice is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Fortin) Morin of Fort Kent; a daughter, Melissa of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Frederick, of South Portland; four sisters, Sister Candide Morin, DW, of Montreal, Sister Beatrice Morin of Quebec City, Quebec, Jackie and her husband, Martin Kane of Lakewood, Colo., and Lorraine McAleavy of Frederick, Md.; a brother-in-law, Real Pelletier of Wallagrass; sister-in-law, Yolande Morin of St. Nicolas, Quebec; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Maurice was predeceased by four brothers, Leon, Roland, Philip and Renaud; and by three sisters, Priscille Gagne, Evangeline Lozier and Marthe Pelletier. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal services will be held May 11, 2009, at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743 or Northern Maine Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Phase 3 Scholarship Fund, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
