Mattie Lou Chessher Johnson, age 82, of Milligan, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. She was born on Sept. 16, 1927, in Okaloosa County, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of Milligan Assembly Of God and attended Full Gospel Tabernacle and was a past member of the Eastern Star. She retired from the textile industry. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her sisters, Avie Mae Chessher, Meldie Steele and Ordness M. Chessher; brother, Willard Chessher; and parents, Horace G. and Mary Ann Chessher. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Hathaway Johnson of Milligan; three sisters, Mabel Williams, Doris Busbee and Willene Williams; brother-in-law, Conolie R. Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Brother Ray Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Milligan Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
