Mattie B. Johnson, formerly of Washington Street, died Monday at the National Healthcare of Laurens. Born in Laurens County, a daughter of the late Barney Woody and Alice Hunter Woody, she was a member of the Poplar Spring AME Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Moses Johnson of Laurens; a son, John P. Johnson of Gray Court; three daughters, Mattie Williams, Betty Johnson of Laurens and Mary Price of Clinton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Poplar Spring AME Church, with Rev. Robert Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of a daughter, Betty Johnson, 101 Dagnell Circle, Laurens. -- Beasley Funeral Home, Laurens.
